I got nothin...

I thought if I just logged on and got to this page something would just jump into my head that I could write about.

But nothing did.

Then I found Supernanny on t.v.

Some people just need their parenting card pulled. In what universe is it OK to let your kids stay up until midnight because they say so?

This actually reminds me of a story about my own mother in law. When she came to visit once when Tyler was just a baby it was time to put him to bed. We did our kisses and I went and put him down. I came back a few minutes later and sat down next to her on the couch. She looked at me and said "Where's Tyler?". "In the bed" I responded. "Then why are you sitting here?" "Because he is in the bed." "Don't you need to stay with him until he falls asleep?" UH - no.

She couldn't believe it.

She went on and on about how we just put him in the bed and he went to sleep. It was amazing. I guess that technique didn't work for her....

It's a Virus

Why is it always a virus?

Tyler woke up this morning with a 101.7 fever. He has been complaining of a headache and tummy ache the last few days so Daddy stayed home with him and took him into the doctor. When he called they said that strep throat has been going around and they would test him. Tyler calls this the choke test and he despises it with all that he has. Result - negative. So the only alternative is a virus. So we get to wait and watch as it runs it's course. We thought maybe we were on the tail end of it and it wouldn't be so bad but tonight it really hurts to swallow and now the fever is 102.7. GREAT! Looks like the next few days will be fun at our house.

County Fair

We did it. We went to the fair. We didn't plan on going. Until our friends just couldn't have fun without us - so we caved and went.
They had fun rides and exhibits.
Our fair expectations are pretty high.
When we lived in Mass we would always go to the Toppsfeild Fair and if you've been to that fair it takes a lot to measure up.
If we had to rate this fair we would give it a 5 out of 10 stars.
Tyler has no other fairs to compare it to so he had a ball and that is what is most important after all.
Here he is in the farmers exhibit. He got to go through "a day in the life" of a farmer.
At the end of his day he got one farmer dollar and got to chose between ice cream sandwich, milk and I don't remember.
He chose the ice cream sandwich - who wouldn't.

This picture just speaks for itself.
And so does this one.
This is Charlie enjoying the fair.
He. is. thrilled.

Tyler loves these jumping things. Daddy kept yelling "flip, flip". Tyler wouldn't flip.

Tyler rode this one twice. The first time I rode it with him. The "biggest" person has to go on the outside. Basically to be mushed beyond recognition by the other people in the car. I still have the belt imprint on my hip.
Enjoying some fair food.
This had to be the greatest event all night. Tyler wanted to go on the Ferris wheel very badly. So being the great friends they are Danny and Sean went with him. As soon as the car took off I could see Tyler's face change. He was terrified. Danny had to hold his arm/hand the entire ride and talked him through it. They got stuck at the top while the ride was letting people on and off and Danny was trying to make it fun - "Look at the fair, you can see really far away" Tyler lifted his head and said "yup, I'm just gonna take my rest now" and laid his head back onto the bar until it was over.

Dinner Talk

We have been very aware of our eating habits lately. We are trying to eat less and better. I guess we have made more of a deal of it then we realize as is realized in dinner talk tonight.
Tyler: Mimi - did you know that if you stop eating for two days you will lose weight. You need to lose weight.
Mimi - Why thank you Tyler.
Tyler - I need to stop eating for two days too - you won't die - you will just lose weight.
Daddy - Well I guess I need to then too.
Tyler - But not Mommy - she's perfect. =)
I love him.

Dry cleaning underwear

Today was the first official first day of second grade for the little guy. He was convincing himself all morning that it was going to be great!
Second grade is going to be great because I am going to make new friends.
Second grade is going to be great because we are going to have math and I love math.
Second grade is going to be great because I am a car rider every day.
Second grade is going to be great because (insert any random thing here)
It was cute to hear him pump himself up. He did have a great day. He has two friends from last year in his class so that was a relief. The only bad thing was his girlfriend moved away.
What. Girlfriend.
So he asked yesterday if after school he could have his underwear dry cleaned.
I had to ask "why in the world would you want your underwear dry cleaned?"
It's cool.
After thinking about it - we don't have any piece of clothing dry cleaned.
ever.
How does he know what this is?
Tyler what do you mean by dry cleaned?
I mean I take off my clothes then run around in my underwear and dry them clean.
Sure. You can have your underwear dry cleaned.
I would have pictures (Lisa) but the blogger wouldn't cooperate.
